Bi-VirTest® (POCT)
What it is: CE-IVD rapid, near-patient test (IVDD; IVDR in preparation) that quantifies MxA to differentiate viral vs. bacterial infections and guide antibiotic decisions.
How it’s used
MxA measurement is specific for symptomatic viral infection; can be used together with CRP to improve triage.
Run on the Bi-Reader® (intuitive, built-in calibration).
Designed for primary care; a self-testing device combined with CRP is under development.
Clinical performance (reported)
GP outpatients: Sensitivity 100%, Specificity 100%.
Hospital outpatients: Sensitivity 92.3%, Specificity 96.6%.
